Hail History Lovers,

 

As a Classics Masters Student (with undergrad Honours) my studies led me to dismiss the church as essentially a practical joke that got out of hand. When you look at the 4th Century (particularly the reign of me mate Con - that is Constantine I) you see that it's entirely political and has nothing to do with 'spiritualism' - just as well given no soul. 4th Century aside (just for a minute) the 'text of the bible' is nothing but an instrument of control, intimidation and fear which justifies the existence of the church. Look at 'genesis' - there was a great catastrophe and man was separated from 'god' - apparently a bad thing, although given his war crimes in the 'old testament' separation wouldn't be so bad. The only ones who could 'save' man from this 'catastrophe' was? You guessed it - the church. The bible justifies a patriarchal, theocratic and repressive existence. It stifles free will, progress and critical thinking - the history of christianity speaks for itself.

I watched a documentry once about a female pope. They even are suppose to have a chair that the to be pope to sit into and someone would have to check to make sure he had the right thing! This was after she supposed gave birth going from one imporent building to the other. They used the chair into the 20th century. about 500yr. Pink mom

I was a history major in college and studying history was what led to my atheism! When I would meet fellow atheists in college and when they asked my major would always be so surprised that a history major could be an atheist! "Really? A non-science major lost belief in god? Crazy!"
